Card Breaks Policy

Definition

A group break is an event where collectors share the cost of a sealed box or case of trading cards and divide all pulled cards by team, player, serial-number slot, or another predetermined method. This format allows participants to enjoy premium products at a fraction of the full-box price.

Break Formats

Fussy’s Card Den will offer several break styles to suit different interests and budgets:
  • Team Break: Participants purchase specific teams; all cards for each purchased team are sent to that buyer.
  • Random Team Break: Teams are assigned randomly via Random.org before opening; each participant receives cards for their assigned team.
  • Random Draft Break: Participants are randomized into a draft order, then select teams in a snake-style draft; all cards for drafted teams go to the drafter.
  • Random Serial-Number Break: Participants draw a digit or range corresponding to the last digit(s) of a card’s serial number; cards are allocated based on matching serial-number endings.
  • Player Break: Individual players are sold (set price or auction); any card featuring that player is shipped to the purchaser.
  • Mixer: A mix of boxes from different years or brands; cards are divided by team or player according to one of the above methods.

Participation & Payment

  • Spot Purchase: Buying a break spot entitles you only to the cards drawn for your team, slot, or player from the specific boxes or packs listed in that break’s product description — not to any unopened packs or cases outside of those defined for this group break.
  • Pricing: Team-based spots are priced according to market demand and the anticipated value of hits; random spots are equally priced.
  • Payment: Full payment is required to secure a spot. Unpaid spots may be resold at the host’s discretion. 4. Randomization & Fairness
  • Tools: All random assignments (teams, draft order, serial-number slots) use Random.org’s List Randomizer with timestamped validation.
  • Transparency: Randomizations occur live at the start of each stream; validation values are shared in chat and archived with the break video.

Card Allocation

  • Guaranteed Hits: All autographs, memorabilia, numbered parallels, and rookie cards are shipped to eligible participants.
  • Base Cards: For multi-box or case breaks of new releases, base cards are included; in base-heavy releases, veteran base cards may be donated.

Multi-Player/Multi-Team Cards

  • Random/Draft Breaks: If no single owner holds >50% of teams on a multi-team card, allocation is determined by position on the card (top, left, or top-left).
  • Purchase/Auction Breaks: If a purchased or auctioned card features multiple teams or players, we assign raffle entries based on how much each person paid for those teams or players. We then draw one entry at random—whichever entry is selected wins the card.
  • Unlicensed or College Cards: Assigned to the player’s current professional team at product release, or to the team with which the player spent the most seasons; if indeterminate, awarded randomly.

Live Streaming & Archive

  • Platform: All breaks are streamed live on our YouTube Live channel. When appropriate, we may also simulcast on other platforms, but YouTube will always be our primary streaming location.
  • Archive: All sessions are recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel; participants need not watch live to receive their cards.

Shipping & Packaging

  • Packaging: Valuable cards (numbered, autographs, memorabilia) are sleeved, toploaded, and sealed in team bags; smaller orders ship in bubble mailers and larger orders in boxes.
  • Schedule: Orders from completed breaks ship within two business days (excluding holidays). Tracking and delivery confirmation are included with every shipment.
  • Insurance: Orders over $200 (USD) require signature upon delivery; additional insurance is available upon request.
  • High-Value Shipments: For shipments valued at $500 or more, Fussy’s Card Den will reach out to the customer prior to shipping to confirm packaging, insurance, and preferred shipping method. Local pickup is also available for high-value orders in the greater Denver, CO area—please let us know if you'd like to arrange this option.

Cancellation & Refund

  • Prior to Break: Spots may be canceled up to 24 hours before the scheduled break for a full refund.
  • After Break Start: All sales are final once the break has begun; no refunds or exchanges are issued for completed breaks.
  • Host Cancellation: If Fussy’s Card Den cancels a break (e.g., insufficient spots, product issues), all participants will receive a full refund.

  • Retail Service: Group breaks are a retail purchase of live-opening services and card distribution; they are not considered gambling by many authorities,
